Competition laws are designed to protect businesses and consumers from anticompetitive behaviour. The laws safeguard effective competition in order to deliver open, dynamic markets and enhanced productivity, innovation and value for customers.

The Forum, and its members, must understand how they are affected by competition laws generally and in the context of financial services regulation.

They should be particularly mindful of the risks of coordination, both as between themselves (since Members should remain free to determine their own commercial strategies) and as between companies in which they invest. In particular, the Forum and its Members should not engage in or facilitate the exchange of competitively sensitive information.
